Job Title: Project Assistant
(Community-based Disaster Risks Reduction Project)
Grade: 5
Place of work: Mawlamyaingyun and Laputta in Ayeyarwaddy Region
Contract Duration: Until end of June 2013

Child Protection Level: 3 (The responsibilities of the post require you to work directly, or have frequent contact, with children or young people, individually or in groups)
Job Purpose:
To facilitate the effective and successful planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities in the Township and villages/wards assigned - in collaboration with the Project Officers and Area Manager.
To assist with administrative functions and manage overall communications, clerical and logistical requirements for inter-agency learning and accountability activities.
Key Accountabilities:
· Conduct baseline survey and data entry, and assist in design of project activities in line with agreed work plan.
· Ensure community mobilisation, and facilitate community-based project activities through regular interaction with children and community members, including providing training, guidance and support.
· Take steps to ensure that the programme benefits the poorest and most disadvantaged children.
· Supervise and train Village Disaster Management Committees(VDMCs) and Children’s Disaster Management Committees (CDMCs)
· Respect to and work with children inside or outside the project locations
· Liaise with Township and village authorities, and departmental officials regarding the project activities as necessary
· Support VDMC and CDMCs in developing DRR and EPP IECs materials
· Assist and facilitate capacity building workshops for variety of stakeholders.
· Assist in procurement of materials, supplies and maintenance of project equipment and repair.
· Assist supervisor in preparing township work plan and budget estimation.
· Responsibility for cash disbursement for assigned project activities.
· Keep records of activities, and report regularly and as requested on programme progress.
· Any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.
Person specification
· High school or equivalent education, University Degree is preferable
· Experience working within NGO, humanitarian, disaster contexts preferable
· Proven team working ability
· Good communication skills
· A commitment to children’s rights, children’s participation and non-discrimination.
· Computer proficiency (or at least willingness to learn)
· Ability to live and travel in remote locations
· Interest & willingness to learn from community
· Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
